Éric DE KEZEL holds a degree in Chemistry and has over thirty years of experience in Intellectual Property, including thirteen years within the BP Group.
He began his career leading an electrochemistry research project at the Université Libre de Bruxelles for Yates Industries, a manufacturer of electrolytic copper foils, building a strong foundation in industrial R&D.
He subsequently served for seven years as Group Manager within the Intellectual Property Department of Fina Research SA, a subsidiary of the Belgian oil company Petrofina.
From 1996 to 2004, Éric worked within BP, initially as a Patent Engineer and, from 2000, as Manager of the IP & Documentation Department of BP Chemicals SNC.
Between 2004 and 2009, at BP International Ltd., he held the positions of IP Director for Gas, Power and Renewables and subsequently Corporate R&D IP Director. In this role, he oversaw IP strategy across multiple business units and developed substantial experience in international R&D cooperation, particularly with China, acting as IP Manager for one of BP International’s divisions.
Since 2009, Éric has been working as an Intellectual Property Consultant within his firm, Push The Limits Ltd.
He joined LLR team at the end of 2019.
Éric focuses on the drafting and prosecution of European and international patent applications, including the preparation of responses to Office Actions and the analysis of search and examination reports. He advises clients on patent validity, freedom-to-operate and infringement matters, and is particularly active in patent litigation, including proceedings before the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
